Transponder wiring diagram
Hi guys, just got my KT 76 and encoder, its all wired together but I wanted a wiring diagram for reference, is anyone else flying with one? Or do you know where I can find a diagram online, I have searched but no luck.

Also, there is a KT76C in my old Coyote. James has the book for it and it is the same tray and wiring. You could probably get a hard copy from that.

Thanks Ian, I was down at airflow looking at the antenna installs on some of the planes. Now I guess thats all I need to be complete, do you know of anyone locally I can get one from??

You're one day late, we just ordered a bunch of stuff from Aircraft Spruce that was shipped this morning. That's the best place to order from. Call the Toronto store, the TED antenna is 20 bucks.

Ok, does the antenna use just standard coaxial wire? using bnc connectors??

Bob,
On some things it isn't so critical but on a transponder it's important to use the correct cable. The losses in the cable at transponder frequencies can be extreme so RG400 cable is recommended. Many people use cheap store bought coax but it's a mistake. I am getting several made up by an avionics guy locally so if you want, one measure the length fairly accurately and I will have one made up for you. Cost is typically around $50 depending on length. No point spending $2000? on a transponder only to give up 1/2 the output performance to save $20 on cable.
