A little soft, but wide and long with lots of room. Takeoff video - notice the caboose doing new duty as a lakefront cabin as I cross the shoreline.
Couple more pics on the way in:
A flat top mountain called "The Table" that I used to play on with helicopters in days past. It is just north of Brohm ridge, where we saw a couple dozen snowmobilers taking advantage of late spring packed snow.
Black Tusk, seen from the "easy" side. Climbed it a few years back.
Water is pretty low in Downton Lake on our left. That's Gun Lake just in front of the spinner.
Short walk down to the lake. Snow-capped mountains in every quadrant.
Blackcomb Helicopters has a small shed on the strip, along with a pad and probably jetfuel. The tiedown area is gravel and hard.

Looks like you had fun! I gotta get up there sometime and check it out! I think that could be a nice summer day trip destination! How long would you say the strip is? And how many planes do you think could be parked there at the same time?
2600'x 70' wide, elevation about 3000', short trees (20-30')at both ends. It is managed by the Gun Lake Airport Society, I got a PPR from Blackcomb Helicopters, 250-238-0194.
You could probably park 60 airplanes in the parking area on the west side.
If you haul a mountain bike up it is worth going out on the Slim Creek Trail from the airport 11 km to Jewel Creek and then single track the Spruce Lake.
Webcam looking north up the lake for reliable weather.
Fantastic! Thank you for the info!
Hey, thanks for the great info. How loose is the gravel on the strip or does it have some vegetation binding it a bit?
Also, is B.A. in charge of the strip now? Most of my previous research indicated there was a "Gun Lake Airport Society"but can't find any contact info.
