Remember:  1200: Saturday , Feb 22nd , we meet at CYCW :
Wx looks good for flying in; and I will check Saturday morning again to make sure .  Some may drive.
Gary has secured the Chilliwack Flying Cub venue for us to do our visiting and planning (not the Hangar)...with a beautiful patio,  and enough space to accommodate 20 people!

Also, if volunteers are available, the Flying Club will cook lunch for us,  for a small fee ($5.00).
If not, we still have our LUNCH Booking for 10 people  in the Café at 1300.

Welcome new guest: Guido.

Looking forward to seeing you all and to much fun...and photo ops...bring SMILING faces!

Yellowknife group meeting

The first "Flight to Yellowknife" meeting took place on Saturday at the Big Ridge Brewpub. Our next meeting is in 3 weeks' time:  Saturday:  February 22nd at 12h00 in Chilliwack.  We meet for Lunch and then gather in Gary Atkin's Hangar for Planning and Map layout. Everyone with an interest in the flight should be there. See you there guys.

Gravel Bar and Sand Bar Landings with Brunch at Rowena Golf Course

First of February marked a small adventure flight from CSK8 to Rowena Sandpiper Golfcourse Landing Strip.  Along the way , we got to experience  low level flying and landings on the gravel and sandbars between Mission and Chilliwack. Len and Elke flew in the Piper Vagabond, James Shepherd and Heidi flew in the Rans Coyote, Gary Morical and Ann and Sharon and Darrel joined us at Rowena's Restaurant for a yummy Brunch.  Worth a cold and crisp February winter flight and get together.

Notice Heidi holding something in her hand?  It is a token for her first gravel bar landing, given to her from Sharon.  Heidi just finished her Commercial License.  So proud we are having such accomplished and fun pilots in our Pacific Pilots Group!

Cross Country to Yellowknife

Some of you may know that Joel Ellis is planning a flight to Yellowknife in the summer. Several of our group are considering joining Joel. He would like anyone who would like to go to join the flight. Because Joel does not have large fuel tanks, he will be deciding the routing. More later.

Hi James,

I think I want to fly through Jasper on the way home, but the route UP is as below so far:

July 26th to August 9th, 2014

CSK8 - CYPS Pemberton
CYPS - CYLI  Lillooet
CYLI - CAQ4   Springhouse
CAQ4 - CYQZ   Quesnel
CYQZ - CYXS  Prince George
CYXS - CYZY  Mackenzie
CYZY - CYDQ   Dawson Creek
CBD3 - CYPE  Peace River
CYPE - CFX4   Manning
CFX4 - CYOJ High Level
CYOJ - CYHY  Hay River
CYHY - CYZF  Yellowknife

I will be flying for no more than 2 hours between airports, and I cruise about 76 kts (slightly conservative to add some safety factor) in no wind conditions.

I haven't broken the trip into days yet, but expect it to be quite leisurely as I will stay put for anything less than stellar weather.

Cheers,

Joel

Powell River

Some of the group flew to Powell River at the weekend for lunch at Julie's by the airport. Weather was cold but bright with a few clouds that we could fly under, over, or around.
