Camping in Quesnel
If you haven't done it, you should think about doing it. Quesnel has created the greatest camping spot for fly-in visits, with everything you need and more.
The camp ground has a covered cooking area, multiple BBQ's, tables, chairs, water, bucket, wash brush, and out-house.
The Flying Club club house has flush toilets, showers, kitchen, seating area and Pilot room, with all you need to file a Flight Plan.
The Quesnel Terminal (during business hours)has washrooms, phones, pop and snack machines. There's also a coin machine, if you happen to leave all your changed home, like we did.
The Quesnel Skyfest Air Show is coming up on August 3-4. Weather permitting, we'll be there. Anyone else interested?

Cortes Island fly-in
We had a good turnout for our fly-in to Cortes on Saturday There were pilots from several clubs such as Langley, Qualicum, Delta and of course King George.

Some of you will know that Jim and Diane Hanson are retiring and have sold their airport and resort to a corporation who intend to turn it into an executive retreat. We are not sure where that leaves us so we decided to get in what may be our final trip to Cortes as we know it.
As always Jim and Diane were gracious hosts and laid on a great lunch. We all wish them the very best in their retirement and hope to keep in touch.

A Visit to Port Alberni
A few shots of our recent trip to Port Alberni.
Only $30 taxi fare one way to the waterfront. If you go before 1:00 on Saturday you can attend the farmers market and if you stay long enough you might see the Martin Mars water bomber in the air like we did. The water bomber is no longer open to the public.

Cortes Fly in "Picnic on the beach"
We are planning a group fly in to Cortes Island on July 6th for lunch and a picnic on the beach. Everyone is welcome and I hope to see a good turnout. I have some commitments already and it seems there will be quite a few of the ladies joining us.
Some of you may know that Hansen field has been sold to a developer and this could be our last chance for a fly-in to this field. The Hanson's have been great hosts over the years and I for one will be sorry see them go. They are retiring on the Island.
You can bring your own lunch or have the Hanson's make something up for you. Jim Hanson said he will use his van to drive people down to where the beach steps start. Sounds like fun. Any suggestions?

Sunday June 23 2013 . This is Tipella airstrip at the north end of Harrison lake. Long enough for most aircraft and it is in good condition. It is a gravel strip.

GREAT FLIGHT THIS WEEKEND
Several of our group flew to Courtney for lunch this weekend. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture. Air was smooth and lunch at the airport café was good. Hopefully, one of many group fly ins this season.
